Yr Aflonyddwch Mawr expresses its protest and solidarity with the 20 Basque pro-independence left leaders and activists sentenced to jail and 111 social clubs and bars confiscated by Spanish Special Court.

Last evening dozens of protests took place across the Basque Country against the Spanish state's latest attack on the pro-independence movement. 20 leaders and activists have been sentenced to up to 3 years in jail and 111 "herriko taberna" or "people's bars" (which are pro-independence bars, bistros, social clubs, meeting points, cultural hubs...) have been confiscated.
The process begun 12 years ago with dozens of arrests and the closing down of the mentioned bars. More protests have been called for the weekend.
